Excellent oral hygiene is essential during orthodontic treatment. Poor oral hygiene during treatment may lead to enamel decalcification (white spots), tooth decay and gum disease. You should still visit your dentist or an oral hygienist every 3-6 months during your treatment for the necessary cleaning, fluoride treatment and general check-ups.
